(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)Dorothy Alene Rhatigan of Bernice, OK entered eternal rest at 4:38 A.M., April 9, 2024, at Seneca House Skilled Nursing in Seneca, MO.
Alene, as she liked to be called, was born on September 23, 1930, in Wyandotte, OK to Hobert and Gladys Brown. Alene graduated from Wyandotte High School. She soon married at the age of 19 to Henry Phillip Rhatigan of Wyandotte, OK on December 27, 1949, and was married for 43 years.
Alene and Henry raised 4 daughters, Cynthia Jan Rankin of Mendenhall, MS, Martha Elaine Clark of Tulsa, OK, Elizabeth Joy Henry of Pearl, MS, and Laura Ruth Penn of Seabrook, TX.
Alene focused on raising her daughters and being home for them as well as her husband Henry.
Alene and Henry were so happy to return home to Oklahoma after 19 years in Mississippi. Once they returned to Oklahoma, both being members of the Seneca Cayuga Nation, became involved in tribal affairs, business, camping & dancing at Green Corn, and being with family and friends.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents Hobert and Gladys Brown, her husband Henry Rhatigan, baby Teresa Ann, grandson Matthew Rankin, sisters Bertie Smith and Dixie Hull, brothers John Brown and Gene Brown.
Alene is survived by her 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, & 7 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Sue Golden of Seneca MO, Sharon Anderson of Wyandotte, OK, Carol Brown of Miami, OK and brother Hobert (Butch) Brown of Wyandotte, OK.
Graveside services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at Brown Cemetery in Wyandotte, OK on Monday, April 15th with viewing at 3:00-3:45 PM and at 4:00-5:00 PM, Chaplin Danny Mullins will say a few words and Vince Gonzalez will conduct graveside Seneca Cayuga rites.
