(From Daniel Funeral Home)Shirley Agnes Kruger, age 88, of Jasper, Missouri passed away April 5, 2024, at St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.
Shirley was born August 23, 1935 in Randolph, Nebraska to Anthony H Backer and Helen E (Kelsch) Backer. On January 29, 1953, Shirley married Robert P. Eddie in Randolph, Nebraska, three children were born to the marriage, and they later divorced. Shirley then remarried Eddy Kruger on June 12, 2004 in Randolph, Nebraska, he preceded her in death.
Shirley was a devoted farm wife and worked as a caretaker at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, Missouri. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital in Carthage, Missouri and was voted Volunteer of the Year. Her greatest joy was being able to help others.
Survivors include two sons, Charles (Deb) Eddie of Ashland, Nebraska and Marlon (Dianna) Eddie of Jasper, Missouri; one daughter, Rebecca "Becky" (Al) Meier of Lincoln, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and five step-children, Cathy, Bruce, Cindy, Greg and Carla.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eddy Kruger; one brother, Edward Backer and five sisters, Arlene Tilton, Marie Allen, Dorothy Haselhorst, Vernelle Miner and Joan Synovec.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m., April 10, 2024 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Crippled Children's Fund or St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
