(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Carolyn Sue Johnson affectionately known as Mamaw, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, at the age of 82. Born to the late Edgar and Leatha (Erickson) Goade on March 14, 1942, in Duenweg, MO,
Carolyn’s life was a testament of love, warmth and strength. She graduated from Duenweg High School in 1960 and went on to work at Sears for 20 years before retiring in 1997. After taking some time to enjoy retirement, she took a part-time job at the Joplin High School cafeteria where she worked for the next 15 years.
Carolyn loved spending time with family and friends, and she had a passion for garage sales and finding a bargain. Cooking was her superpower, and she enjoyed making delicious meals that brought everyone together. She had a knack for making everything special. No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave her home with a story of something funny or crazy Carolyn did while you were with her. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Zach Johnson and wife, Kara of Prosper, TX, along with three grandchildren, Zoe Sullivan, Sofia and Emma Johnson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelly Sullivan-Wooldridge, son-in-law Jack Wooldridge; parents, Edgar and Leatha Goade; brothers, Albert Wolfe and Everett Goade; and sisters, Eva Cupp and Faye Farris.
Carolyn is now at peace, joining her parents, brothers, sisters, and daughter. There is so much more that should be said, but in the end, what she did was make our world brighter. We love and miss you, Mamaw.
