Patricia Sooter

Patricia Louise Sooter, 94, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Patricia was born on Friday, March 21, 1930, in rural Jasper County, Missouri to the union of the late William and Jewell (Berry) Welde. She was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. 







On August 29, 1948, she was united in marriage to the love her life, Jack Wayne Sooter, sharing almost forty wonderful years of memories until his passing on February 14, 1988. For many years she worked as a secretary for a physician’s office. Patricia was a very dedicated and loyal employee. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene and a current member of the Progressive Club in Sarcoxie. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her home in which she resided for nearly forty years and spending time with her family and friends. Patricia will truly be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Neal Eugene Sooter; great-granddaughter, Adalynne Sooter; brother, Billy Welde; and son-in-law, Raymond Downey.

Patricia is survived by her children, Dennis Sooter and wife, Theresa, of Sarcoxie, Mark Sooter and wife, Cindy, of Nixa, Gregory Sooter and wife, Ann, of Carthage and Treva Downey of Springfield; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Gene Sooter and wife, Wilma, of Murfreesboro, TN; as well as a host of other family and friends.








Funeral services for Mrs. Sooter are 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024, at Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Joplin, Missouri, with pastors Wesley Anderson and Jim Martin officiating. 

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Kevin Sooter, Isaac Sooter, Jeremiah Sooter, Matt Sooter, Jeff Thompson and Greg Downey. Honorary pallbearer will be Josh Sooter. Burial will follow in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Addy Joy Hope Foundation- Fighting DIPG in care of the funeral home.
