(From Parker Mortuary)Clara Gaymell Dillard, age 86, of Joplin, passed away at her home on Friday, August 16, 2024.
Clara, daughter of the late Boyd and Clara Fern (Slaughter) Files, was born on December 18, 1937, in Whiteright, TX.
Clara was a homemaker and military wife who dedicated herself to the upbringing of her two sons and making her home a haven of comfort and love. She found immense joy in the company of her grandchildren as a grandmother. Clara was an avid fisher-woman, whose skill and patience at the lake often resulted in her out-fishing her sons.
Her love for the outdoors extended to her garden, where she cultivated a stunning array of roses and flowers, each bloom a representation of the care and attention she invested in them. Clara’s presence was a comfort, her advice a treasure, and her unconditional love a gift that will continue to live in those who knew her.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas Dillard and Boyd Dillard, both of Joplin; two grandsons, Steven Dillard, and his wife, Kaitlyn, of Carl Junction, and Mark Dillard, of Carterville; and two great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
