(From Daniel Funeral Home)Dixie Lee Johnson, age 81, of Lamar, Missouri passed away August 17, 2024.
Dixie was born September 7, 1942 in Carthage, Missouri to Bert Olen Fasken and Verna Lavina (Isenman) Fasken. Dixie graduated from Golden City High School. On February 16, 1962, Dixie married Roy Francis Johnson Jr. in Lamar, MO.
Dixie worked as a agent for the USDA Farm Service Agency. She was a member of the Eastern Star, lifetime member of CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International),and the 2000 Chili Cook Off World Champion. Dixie was involved with the Lamar Fire Department since 1964 and led and organized the Toys for Tots toy drive along with the Red Cross Blood Drive. She also volunteered at Good Samaritan Shop.
Survivors include one son, JR Johnson of Lamar, MO; a daughter, Margie (DJ) Short of Warrensburg, Missouri; honorary daughter, Cindy Johnson of Lamar, MO; five grandchildren, Austin (Anna) Johnson, Cheyenne (Dalton) Parks, all of Lamar, MO., Warner Short (Grace Hill), Lambert Short and Velie Short, all of Warrensburg, MO; three great-grandchildren, Lincoln Johnson, Tucker Parks, Swaden Parks and one due in November 2024.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy and one sister, Reba Sipes.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamar, MO.
