(From Parker Mortuary)James Arthur Ryan, Sr., age 77, Neosho, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his home with family at his side.
James was born September 16, 1946 in Williams, AZ, son of the late Victor Ryan and Emma (Allen) Ryan. He grew up in Carterville, MO where he graduated from Carterville High School and was a gifted athlete before attending Missouri Southern State University where he got a degree in engineering.
He was drafted by the United States Army while in college and served for several years in Germany and with the reserves. He returned to Carterville and began Jim Ryan Roofing and Remodeling. He did this for many years with his wife and son. He was devoted to serving the Lord and attending Tabernacle Church in Joplin.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Wanda Lou (McKeehan) Ryan who passed away on June 4, 2017.

Survivors include his children, James A. Ryan, Jr. and wife Tara of Seneca, MO, Melissa Jones and husband Pastor Jarrod Jones of Neosho, MO, Joseph Ryan and wife Candice of Racine, MO, Tamara Call and husband Phillip of Ozark, MO, Cassandra Ryan of Springfield, MO, Robin Alley and husband Pastor Michael Alley of Sulphur Springs, AR; 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan Ryan, Tim Ryan, Roy Ryan, Tom Ryan, Nathan Ryan, and Phillip Ryan; sisters, Mary Forsythe and Joanna Sparlin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Friday, August 30, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Church, 1024 E. 2nd St., Joplin. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.
