(From Parker Mortuary)Mildred Maxine (Preston) Allen-Childers, age 98, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at her home with family at her side.
Mildred was born March 24, 1926 in Wichita, KS, daughter of the late Richard and Anna (Walck) Preston. Mildred was preceded in death by two husbands, Chuck Childers and Lloyd Wayne Allen, and a daughter, Nancy Peterson.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Marbough (Jake), Shirley White, Richard Allen (Becky), and Stephen Allen (Darlene); and numerous grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Joe Weidenbenner officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
Mildred will lie in state at Parker Mortuary on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during normal business hours.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Area Catholic Schools care of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
