Gary LaTante

Gary Michael LaTante, age 71, of Wentworth, MO passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Mercy Hospital Joplin in Joplin, MO. He was born in Watertown, NY on Sunday, July 19, 1953; son of Robert LaTante and Stephanie (McCarthy) Roe. Gary attended Watertown High School. He served his country in the Army Reserves and Marine Corps. He married Sharon Harmon on Saturday, June 27, 1981, in Mokena, IL. 

Gary was a security guard for Trump Casino and various other businesses. 

He enjoyed fishing, being on the computer, eating, and spending time with his family. He liked guns and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and always liked to see them win. He watched many games with his family. He also enjoyed watching the Big Bang Theory. Gary enjoyed playing games, especially trivia and spent many hours putting genealogy together. Family was most important to him!

Surviving are the following: his wife, Sharon of Wentworth, MO; a son, Matthew Shawn LaTante of Columbus, IN; a daughter, Crittney Renee LaTante of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren, Micheal, Xander, and Declynn; a brother, Alvin Roe; and many nieces and nephews.

Those welcoming him to heaven include his parents, Robert and Stephanie; and siblings, Jimmy, Timmy, David, and Phyllis.

The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM.

Graveside Services, with Military Honors, will be at Van Buren Cemetery in Wentworth, MO on Friday, August 30, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Larry Herndon officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
