(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)Robert Lee Horton, 75 years of age, also known to everyone as "Bob", was, unexpectedly, called home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 17, 2025, while at his Avilla residence in Missouri, due to heart failure.
Bob was born on Aug. 26, 1949, in Van Buren, MO to Robert Lloyd and Sarah Evelyn Horton. Even though Bob didn't have much of a formal education, as he became a self-taught "Jack of all Trades", and eventually found a "DRIVE", so to speak, for "Trucking", long-haul, cross-country, truck driving, from which he eventually retired after many, many years.
After retiring, he began working part-time, building Gold Wing motorcycle trailers, he found that he had a knack for electrical wiring (despite being colorblind) and then started his own private electrical company, and took an interest in rebuilding desktop computer systems, as well as. Early on, Bob also had a natural talent & eye for leather work, which many family members and friends can attest to, due to the fine artwork & keepsakes that he's made for them over the years. Bob never allowed his disabilities to get in the way of something he wanted to accomplish, to him, it wasn't a "Dis-Ability", but just another "Ability" that he was going to achieve! I'm sure many of us are going to miss his little quotes and sayings, Lord knows he had so many, but one of his all-time favorites that both, my brother and I continue to use today, "Everything has a place, therefore, it should always be put back in its place!"
Dad's true passion was in motorcycle riding, and before his passing, he was an active member with the local CMA, GR and PGR Motorcycle Association's (Christian Motorcycle Association, Glory Riders & Patriot Guard Riders) which he actively participated in hospital, nursing & veteran's home visits, as well as, motorcycle rides to show support in sending off our veterans and showing support & respect to their families, to parades and various other events, when they called him, he was there whenever possible, that was the kind of man he was!
Bob was preceded in death by his doting soulmate, Barbara Jean Horton; his youngest child: Nelson Lloyd Horton; his oldest grandchild: Salina Jean Ramos; his loving parents, Robert Lloyd & Sarah Evelyn Horton; younger siblings: William Arthur Monroe Horton; Kathy Elaine Baxley; Rutha Bella Williams; and Thomas Lloyd Horton.
