Garrett Leonard Breedlove, formerly of Galena, Kansas and Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born in Joplin on September 29, 1997 to the late Gary Breedlove and Patti Moreno. He was a 2016 graduate of Galena High School.
As a child, Garrett had the palette of a 90-year-old man. He preferred vegetables over candy and delighted in “impressing” his family with how many squiggly things he could consume at his favorite Asian buffets. In his teenage and adult years he loved to longboard and was a true adventure seeker. He climbed mountains, hiked, kayaked, and felt at home in nature. Garrett loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and was pretty good at fantasy football. He had a killer sense of humor and was an absolute daredevil.
Garrett had an unbelievably kind, selfless heart. He always put others’ needs ahead of his own, even if it put him in awkward or unfamiliar situations. Animals seemed to sense his gentle nature and gravitated to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Breedlove, and grandmother Carolene Lilly Weiss. Garrett is survived by his mother, Patti (Tony) Moreno, grandparents Joseph and Judith Biland, brothers Tim (Brittany) Breedlove, Michael Cedar Jr., and Trenton Farley, sisters Kara (Lenny) Johnson, Katie (Cory) Vance, Meg (Jared) LeSage, and dear cousins Mason Qualls, Gracie (Caleb) Thompson, and Hayden Qualls (who were much more like siblings).
Garrett’s love and light, his huge heart, and all his hopes and dreams live on in the nieces and nephews that he so adored - Logan (Destiny) Johnson, Emersen Johnson, Gannon Johnson, Leighton Breedlove, Keegan Breedlove, McKenzie (Nolan) Estes, Grace Vance, Joseph Vance, and Judah LeSage as well as his great-nieces Emerleigh, Liliana and Everleigh.
Garrett’s loved ones find solace knowing that he was firm in his faith and rests now in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Garrett will be sorely missed. I loved playing cards with him at family gatherings. He was a shining light in his Dad's eyes. They will be together now.💕
