(From Lawson's Funeral Home)Roberta Correne Barnett, age 78, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Jay, Oklahoma. She was born on April 19, 1947 in Woodward, OK to Robert Handley and Frances Stalter Handley.
Correne graduated from Noel High School in 1965 in Noel, MO. She married Frederick Puryear April 16, 1966 to this union 4 children were born, Fred, Sheri, Marvin and Leonard. Correne married Dale Barnett December 31, 1976 they were married 48 years. Correne was a homemaker and took great care of her family. She loved art and crafts. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Correne is proceeded in death by her husband Dale Barnett; son Fred Puryear; parents, Robert and Frances Handley; sisters Patsy Handley and Peggy Krrugg; and her brother Jerry Handley.
Correne is survived by her children, Sheri Gann (Marty) of Kansas, OK, Marvin Puryear of Neosho, MO, and Leonard Puryear of North Carolina; 2 stepdaughters, Teresa Bennett (Jim) of Noel, MO, and Sherrie Sims of Rogers, AR; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Robert Handley of Redmond, Washington; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Correne’s Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, 2:00pm, May 22, 2025 at Duffield Cemetery in Jay, OK with Chaplain Debi Olive officiating.
Correne’s burial will be at Duffield Cemetery in Jay, OK.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
