Patsy Gibbs

(From Parker Mortuary)

Patsy Ann Gibbs, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in Joplin, MO. She was born on December 4, 1942 to the late Robert and Lillian (Walters) Vick.

Patsy was born in Freeport, IL and after she lost her father at a young age, moved to Stockton, IL with her mother and sister, Linda. She met and married Darrel Niemann in 1962 residing on a dairy farm in Stockton, often living off the livestock they had at the time. They had two children, DeAnna and Dale.

After their divorce in 1975, Patsy moved to Iowa working in a John Deere factory before beginning her truck driving adventures. During these coast-to-coast travels, Patsy met and married Danny Gibbs where they continued their driving adventures together, often welcoming their grandchildren to travel with them and settling in Joplin, MO when not living on the truck.

Aside from their truck driving travels, Patsy enjoyed traveling with family to see the world including Germany, California, Hawaii, Cruise to Mexico and many trips to Silver Dollar City. Patsy, who was always joyful, would never complain because “it wouldn’t do her any good anyhow”. She never met a stranger as she would eagerly exchange life stories and connect with anyone. She enjoyed the company of others, attending Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin, MO. She had many hobbies including crocheting, quilting, reading Amish novels, and completing word searches.

Patsy is survived by her children, Dale Niemann, DeAnna Lindsey (Eric), and Mark Gibbs; grandchildren, Douglas Farrey, Jessica Duncan (Trevor), Brett Lindsey (Kaylee), and Brandon Lindsey (Sydney); great-grandchildren, Harlow Duncan, Haedyn Duncan, Briley Strawmyer, Elena Lindsey; and sister Linda Wurster.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepfather, Dale Heidenreich.

A funeral service is planned for Friday, June 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin, MO. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Mo. The family invites friends out for a time of visitation prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.
