Norma Burtrum

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Norma Alice (Webb) Burtrum passed away peacefully at her home on May 17, 2025, just two months before celebrating her 100th birthday. She was born in Purdy, Missouri, on July 17, 1925, to Frank and Audrey (Cearney) Webb.

In 1946, Norma married Joseph H. Burtrum Sr., and together they built both a family and a business. They owned and operated Burtrum Brothers Motor Co., and after Joseph’s passing in 1971, Norma continued running the business with the determination and grit she was known for.

Norma was the proud mother of two children, Joseph Burtrum Jr. (wife Michele) and Audrey Burtrum-Stanley (husband Jim). She dearly loved her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and held a special place in her heart for her great-great-granddaughter, all who brought her endless joy.

A longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Joplin, Norma’s faith was a steady foundation in her life. She could be feisty and straightforward, never one to mince words, but those who knew her best also knew her heart. She was generous, loyal, and always ready to help someone in need, offering a hand (and sometimes an opinion) without hesitation.

Norma was preceded in death by both parents, Frank and Audrey Webb, husband Joseph Harold Burtrum Sr, brothers Oral Webb, Loren Webb, Jack Lawton Webb, Gale Webb and sister Naomi Webb and great granddaughter Nellie Mae Ledford.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and love—and more than a few stories worth telling.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Purdy Cemetery in Purdy, MO. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
