(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)Brenda Sue Buckner, 68, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away peacefully at 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Via Christi Village, Pittsburg, KS, after struggling with multiple health complications for several years.
Brenda loved her family, friends, and her cat Chica very much. She enjoyed overnight visits from her grandson Sebastian, watching cooking shows, shopping from QVC, and going to casinos.
She was a kind, thoughtful, caring, fun-loving woman, and was greatly loved by her family and friends. We all have wonderful memories of Brenda, and the time that we were blessed to have with her. She will be greatly missed and held dearly in everyone’s hearts.
Brenda was born July 28, 1956, in Holdenville, OK, to Betty Rae and Milus Thomas Alexander Sells. She graduated from Columbus Unified High School, Columbus, KS, in 1974, and went on to obtain her LPN license. While living in Coffeyville, KS, Brenda worked as an LPN at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center and then spent several years working for Western Publishing Book Company in Coffeyville, KS. After relocating to Scammon, KS, she spent several years working for Ozark Salad Company in Baxter Springs, KS.
She then went back into the healthcare field, working as a Life Skills Trainer for individuals with special needs for Skill and Class LTD while living in Columbus, KS. After moving to Pittsburg, KS, she began working for New Hope, where she continued working until her retirement in 2018.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Betty Marie Mattison.
She is survived by her daughter, Brandy Sue Sanders(Mike Duncan), her son, Gary Lee Buckner (Tiffany Huff), grandson, Sebastian Emery Lucas Rothwell, and two sister, Nancy Kathryn
McLendon (Jim) of Pittsburg, KS, and Rhonda Rae Edwards(Larry) of Joplin, MO, and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service, with meal following, will be held at the Center Christian Church in Columbus, KS, at 12:00 p.m. on June 28th, 2025.
