Brett Hill

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Brett “DP” Hill, 44, of Oronogo, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Born February 16, 1981, in Pittsburg, Kansas, Brett spent most of his life in the Jasper County area. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2001 to 2004 aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN-68).

Following his military service, Brett worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad for 13 years and most recently served as a flagger for National Railroad Safety Services.

Brett had been involved with the Brotherhood of Bikers since 2016, known for his outgoing personality and the way he welcomed everyone he met—he truly "never met a stranger." Brett had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for travel. He sent postcards and collected magnets from every destination, always eager to share stories of his latest adventures, whether they involved national parks, Harley shops, or scenic road trips.

He enjoyed photography, camping, hiking, exploring new places, visiting state capitals, bowling, collecting firearms, and cooking—especially his famous ribs. It’s safe to say that meals won’t taste quite the same without Brett behind the grill.

He is survived by his wife, Cassidy Hill (Wade); children Lauren (Harold) Bechtle, Keegan Hill, Darcie (Cooper) Hill, Mason Wade, Cy Turner, Gage (Rachel) Turner, and Jase Wade; father, Bennie Lee Hill; mother, Debra Kay Convirs; siblings Bennie Hill III, Brad Hill, and Crystal (Elijah) Roberts; and granddaughters Luna Llyn Turner, Andie Bechtle, and August Bechtle. He also leaves behind his cousin and best man, Brandon Carter, and his friends whom he called family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Aspyn Bechtle.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a savings account for his three granddaughters in C/O Community Bank & Trust.

There will be a last hoorah on Saturday, May 31, 2025, a time and place will be announced later.
