Madelyn Carroll

Madelyn Joyce (Baker) Carroll was born on November 15, 1934, in Shelbina, Missouri to Harold and Josie Baker. She passed from this life on May 23, 2025, in her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90. 


Madelyn was a loyal daughter, faithful wife, devoted mother and grandmother, and deeply committed to her Savior, Jesus Christ. 








Unwavering in her faith and the calling of her husband, James, into the gospel ministry, she followed and served even when things were difficult. She was by his side as a pastor’s wife for over 16 years, accompanied church groups into Mexico for many years, then helped to raise money to print and send Bibles to people around the world in their own language for 20 years.

Madelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James LaFon Carroll, father—Harold Baker, mother—Letha Josephine (Collins) Baker, sister—Madge Berkebile, son—Gary Carroll, and daughter—Connie Winter.

She is survived by son—Roy Carroll of St. Elizabeth, Missouri, daughter—Cindy Baucum (Ken) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, son-in-law—Ron Winter of Midwest City, Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren, 40+ great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.







A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
