(From Ozark Funeral Home)Luetta Mae “Lou” Fischer, age 93, of Noel, Missouri, departed this life peacefully on Friday morning, May 23, 2025, at the McDonald County Living Center in Anderson, Missouri, after months of failing health. She entered this life on September 24, 1931, in Oakley, Kansas, one of four children born to the late Marvin and Clara (McCombs) Bemiss.
Lou's journey began in the small town of Oakley, where she grew up and graduated from Oakley High School in 1949. Her heart found its match when she married Joe Fischer on June 3, 1951. Their loving partnership was a cornerstone of her life, and together they raised a beautiful family.
After starting their life together in Nebraska, Lou and Joe moved to Noel, Missouri in 1963, where they became well-known and respected members of the community, owning and operating Fischer's Clothing for a number of years. After selling their business, Lou worked as a secretary for various poultry and trailer manufacturing companies in the area.
A woman of deep faith, Lou was a longtime faithful member of the Noel United Methodist Church. For forty-seven years, she taught the adult Sunday school, sharing her wisdom and love for the scriptures. Her devotion to her faith was also evident in her role as the former church secretary, where she helped to keep the church's affairs in order with grace and diligence.
Lou's interests and hobbies were as rich and varied as her life. An avid reader, she found joy and solace in the pages of countless books, especially her Bible. Her love for travel took her on many adventures, creating memories that she cherished deeply. Sewing was another of Lou's talents, and she crafted many beautiful pieces for her family and friends over the years.
Lou is survived by her husband of nearly seventy-four years, Joe Fischer of the home; three daughters, Karen Carpenter of Bentonville, Arkansas, Mary Jane Fischer and HD Sawyer of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas and Nancy Huntsman and husband, David, of Parker, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Toni Fischer of Noel, Missouri; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Lynda Hayhurst of Green Forest, Arkansas; as well as a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wayne Fischer; a brother, Randy Bemiss; and a sister, Joyce Hoeb.
Memorial services are 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Noel United Methodist Church with Pastor Isaac Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends follow the service until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being directed to the Noel United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
