Claude Joseph (C.J.) Martin, age 74 of Miami, OK, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.
Born November 11, 1940 in North Wilkesboro, NC, he was the son of the late Enoch Martin and Blanche Pendergrass Martin. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany, Japan, Korea and in the states and held the rank of Sergeant First Class. He also worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 15 years. His hobbies included fishing and R.C. Airplanes and he was a NASCAR fan. He loved his grandkids and his dog, Gina.
Survivors include a son, Stephan (Steve) Martin and wife Melissa of Carl Junction, MO; two daughters, Andrea Martin of Fayetteville, AR, Ursula Nicholas and husband Mike of Carbon Hill, AL; two brothers, Allen Martin of Statesville, NC, Fred Martin and wife Sandy of Glade Valley, NC; a sister, Sara Medlin and husband Dicky of Statesville; two sisters-in-law, Betty Pendergrass and Chris Martin; five grandchildren, Kaden and Jordan Nicholas, Terryn Bollinger and husband Kellen, Shelbie St. Dennis and James St. Dennis; two great-grandchildren McKenna and Lakin; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Martin; three brothers, Ray Pendergrass, John (Alfred) Martin and Willie Martin.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to any Humane Society in his memory.
