Jesse L. Gourley, Jr., age 60, Carthage, passed away at 12:22 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital after an illness.
Jesse was born March 12, 1955 in Orlando, Florida to Barbara Frey Gourley and the late Jesse L. Gourley, Sr. and had lived in Carthage the past 18 years.
He retired from the United States Air Force in 1993 and was currently employed at Americold Logistics as a customer service representative.
Jesse enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Starlings League and loved to play golf. He and his wife, Gloria, traveled whenever the opportunity presented itself. But his favorite time was when he was around his family, particular his grandchildren.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Gloria, of the home; two children, Misty Eighmy and her husband, Mark, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Jesse Gourley III and his wife, Callie, Carthage; his mother, Barbara Gourley, Carthage; siblings, Kathy Smith and her husband, Willie, Carthage, Jim Gourley and his wife, Deb, Miller, Pam Wolsey and her husband, Jody, Sr., Carthage, Jerry Gourley and his wife, Debbie, Carthage; grandchildren, Samantha Eighmy, Andrew Eighmy, Dausen Gourley, Hunter Gourley; sister-in-law, Sherry Hayden and her husband, Brian, Joplin; and several other extended family members plus his many bowling buddies.
Jesse has been taken for cremation.
A memorial service with full military honors will be take place on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Carthage Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Jeff Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
