Ruth M. Antle, age 97 of Joplin, passed away at 7:36 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital.
Born September 18, 1917 in Diamond, MO, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Reina (Beyer) Kelley.
She married Paul E. Antle on May 4, 1934 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1993.
She and his family moved to Joplin from Pierce City, MO in January of 1939 where Mr. Antle was an Elementary School principal, retiring as principal of Eastmorland School in Joplin in 1970.
Ruth devoted her life to her family and her church. She was active in Boy Scouts, school affairs and was a sports fan for her sons.
An active member of First Community Church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, deaconess, chairperson of Women’s Alliance for three terms and that organization’s Section 1, as well as the Church Card Committee. She was a member of the Forum Sunday School Class and participated in the Community Care Ministry of the church. Ruth was a positive thinker and lived her life positively.
Survivors include two sons, Robert D. Antle of Centennial, CO, Jerry D. Antle and wife Carolyn of Walker, LA; five grandchildren, Greg Antle, Sharon Orzak and husband Russ, Shawn Antle and wife Lisa, Paul Antle and wife Crystal, Jason Antle and wife Tammy; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Totzauer and three brothers, Martin D. Kelley, Wilson W. Kelley and Phillip L. Kelley.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. S. Craig Tally officiating. Family serving as pallbearers will be Robert D. Antle, Jerry D. Antle, Gregory S. Antle, Paul J. Antle, Jason D. Antle and Shawn D. Antle. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to First Community Church.
