Elsie Thomason, 94, a former Joplin resident, passed away March 29, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona where she had moved to be close to her son.
Elsie was born September 24, 1920 in Lavaca AR to Philura and Dennis Spain. She was married to John Harold Thomason on August 1, 1942. They moved to Joplin in 1946. Elsie graduated from Joplin Business College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joplin and a lifetime member of the “Unity Literary Club of the Missouri Federation of Women’s Clubs”. She was very active with the Boy Scouts and was a longtime member of “Tri-State Family Boat Club”.
She is survived by her son Don Thomason and wife Jo, Glendale, AZ, grandsons Darin and Kristi, Peoria, AZ, Cory and Ashley of Collierville, TN. Great grandchildren Austin, Caleb, Katie and Claire. Services will be held at Mason-Woodard in Joplin Thursday April 2, 2015.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Roger Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m Thursday at the Mortuary
