Jerry Gean Bruffey, age 75 of Joplin, Mo entered his eternal home on Monday April 6, 2015 at NHC Healthcare following an extensive battle with brain tumors.
He was born on June 10, 1939 in Lamar, Mo the son of Claude and Dorothy “Lucas” Bruffey. Jerry married his wife of 52 years, Maxine Winningham Bruffey on September 2, 1962 in Fredonia, Ks, and she survives. Jerry worked as a shoe repairman for Devore’s Western Wear for 18 years. He also worked at Danel’s Feed and Farm Supply for 19 years as a warehouse manager, and Champion Feed for 9 years. For most of his adult life Jerry owned and operated his own cleaning service working most recently at Charles Burt Realtors for 21 years. He was a long time member of the 2nd Assembly of God Church in Joplin. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Maxine of the home, two daughters: Tammy Woodward and husband Dan of Joplin, Mo and Tracy Kirkpatrick and husband Marc of Colombia, Mo; five grandchildren: Austin Woodward of Carl Junction, Mo., Coltin Woodward of Joplin, Mo., and Anna, Katie and Hope Kirkpatrick of Columbia, Mo.; three sisters Glenola Sutherland and husband Harvey, Darlene Sitton, and Martha Bruffey, all of Lamar, Mo; two brothers: Wayne Bruffey and wife Reta of Everton, Mo and Keith Bruffey and wife Doddie of Yorktown, Va; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to give a special thanks to NHC Healthcare as well as Avalon Hospice for the love and care they provided to Jerry.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday April 9, 2015 at the 2nd Assembly of God Church in Joplin, Mo with Pastor John Veazey officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Lamar, Mo. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
