Donald D. “Don” Comer, age 71, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday April 19, 2015, at Freeman West, following an illness.
Don was born on May 25, 1943 in Joplin, the son of the late Alfred “Jack” Comer and Freida (Chapman) Comer. He has been a lifetime Joplin resident. He attended Joplin High School. He married Marsha Duley on May 14, 1961. He was employed at Teledyne Continental of Neosho, Mo. for forty-four years, retiring in 2009. Don was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Joplin. He served as a Deacon for forty-six years training union director and Sunday school teacher.
Don is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Marsha Comer, Joplin; two sons, Darin Comer, Joplin, and Darryl Comer, Diamond, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Comer and wife Bobbie, Tracy Comer, Samantha (Comer) Palmer and husband Chris, and Cody Comer; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kyler and Remington Palmer, and Ben Comer and Keelan Comer ; one sister, Letha Roller; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Ralph, Gordon, Bob, Ray, and Leon Comer; and one sister, Evelyn Lindquist.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church. Reverend Rob Signs and Mike Young will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to Fellowship Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.
