Martin L. Bird, 79, Pierce City, MO, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at Mercy McCune-Brooks, Carthage. Martin Lafayette Bird was born December 26, 1935 on Petty Jean Mountain, Morrilton, Arkansas; the son of the late Elton Bird and Vergie Worley Bird. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sargent, a farmer, a supervisor for MO-ARK Farms and was a truck driver for Stan Marion Trucking, Neosho, MO. He married Carolyn Aubrey on August 29, 1995 in Carthage; she survives. He was a member of Harvestime Assembly of God Church, Fidelity, MO.
Additional survivors include three daughters; Lana (Bruce) Tarrant, Anderson, MO, Brenda (Jerry) Puckett, Diamond, MO and Dorri (Dustin) Donnel, Pierce City, MO; one son; Corky (Linda) Greer, Lanagan, MO; 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Charlet Ann Duncan and a sister, Sandra Jane Bird.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 21 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 22 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Chad Nelson, Harvestime Assembly of God, will officiate. Interment will be in Fidelity Cemetery, Fidelity, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to Mercy Hospice in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
