William Russell Snyder, 83, rural Carthage, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin. William Russell Snyder was born May 5, 1931, a son of the late Ira Snyder and Lena (Markley) Snyder, on the family farm east of Carthage. He was a 1949 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. In 1952 he married Christine Thompson; she preceded him in death in 1994. He married Carol Wilkinson in 1995; she survives. Russell was a farmer, a school bus driver and a milk hauler. He was a member of the Center Point Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Debra Harkey, Reeds, MO and a son, John Snyder, Reeds, MO; step children, Janice Clark, Cathy Chew, Rob Wilkinson and Cris Wilkinson, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Levi (Katherine) Snyder, Reeds, MO; four sisters, Alice Bowers, Carthage, Betty Tatum, Ozark, MO, Edith Willard, Reeds, MO and Barbara Smith, Carthage; four grandchildren, Tammy Hoover, Tracy Guy, Troy Foster and Brittany Snyder, several great grandchildren. Russell was preceded in death by one sister, Vesta Ziller, four brothers, Rex Snyder, Glenn Snyder, Herbert Snyder and Harold Snyder and one grandson, Cory Foster.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM, Friday, April 3 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 4 at the Center Point Christian Church, NE of Carthage. Interment will follow at Fasken Cemetery.
