(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)
Anthony Joseph Martinez, age 5, of Webb City, passed away late Saturday evening, July 25, 2015, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Born on August 20, 2009 in Joplin, Missouri, Anthony was the son of Kayla Patterson Martinez and Vincent Martinez, II. He is the youngest of five children. Anthony attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Joplin, MO. Anthony was in Pre-Kindergarten and was looking forward to the start of Kindergarten this coming August. He loved school so much and all of his dudes (friends). His favorite part of the day was coming home and bringing his mom and dad his green card which meant he was good that day. His favorite activities included T-ball and basketball. His favorite part of the year was VBS with Father J; where they made crafts, played outside, and sang and danced. Anthony loved teddy bears, Spider Man, Star Wars Rebels, The Disney Channel, and of course a good meal. His favorite part of vacation was getting to make a new Build-A-Bear. He took care of them like they were his children. He often changed their outfits and took them everywhere with him.
Anthony Joseph and his great personality will truly be missed. Anthony was a caring, compassionate, and happy child. He touched the hearts of everyone he met with his huge smile, and charming personality. He was very devoted to his faith, and enjoyed attending Mass and Vacation Bible School with his friends. Our memories of Anthony will resonate in our hearts forever, and he will never be forgotten.
Anthony is survived by his parents, Kayla and Vincent Martinez, II; his three sisters, Kathryn, Sydney, and Elizabeth; and one brother, Trey.
He was preceded in death by two unborn siblings; his paternal grandmother, Linda Martinez; and maternal grandfather, Forrest Patterson
