Billy Lewis (Bill) Hancock, age 78 of Republic, MO, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Born January 26, 1937 in Lead Hill, AR, he was the son of the late William (Bill) and Belle Elizabeth Dunlap Hancock. Bill lived in Lead Hill, Springfield, and the Joplin and Carthage areas before moving to Republic. He was a cattle buyer in the four-state area for 64 years, operating Hancock Cattle Co. Following retirement he became a full-time RV-er, enjoying Buckeye, AZ six months each year. He attended SAC River Cowboy Church.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Hancock; a nephew, Charles Ryan Hancock and a son, Wayne Louis Chors.
Survivors include the love of his life, Gaylin Carl of the home; four sons, Shawn Hancock and wife Stacey of Olathe, KS, Robert Hancock and wife Leona of Washburn, MO, Stephen Chors and wife Sandra of New Jersey, David Chors and wife Susan of Wichita, KS; two daughters, Marie Lynn Bicknell and husband Mark of Little Meadows, PA, Sherrie Flores of El Paso, TX; a stepson, C.W. Carl and wife Kaedy of Fayetteville, AR; a stepdaughter, Esta Reynolds and husband Joe of Farmington, AR; the mother of two of his sons, Charlotte Hancock; 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Tiger.
A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Springfield Livestock Marketing Center with Scott Killingsworth officiating. Family will receive friends preceding the celebration, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private in White Oak Cemetery in Rogersville, MO.
