B. LaJean Jones, age 82 of Joplin, passed away at 11:08 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Freeman West Hospital.
Born March 14, 1933 in Harrison, AR, she was the daughter of the late John R. Wagner and Mae Irene McCormick Wagner. LaJean worked as a bookkeeper for the Arkansas State Extension Office, Elroy Thomas M.F.A. Insurance, Griffin Grocery and Griffin Meat. She also worked as a teletype operator for an insurance claims office, as a clerk for T&K Gift Shop in the Frisco Building and retired in 1985 from the accounts payable office of the Joplin School District. She was a member of Villa Heights Christian Church.
On December 4, 1955 she married Robert Glen (Bob) Jones at Bellefonte, AR. He preceded her in death May 21, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Jones of Joplin; a granddaughter, Amanda K. Jones of Scranton, KS; a brother, Dale Wagner of Harrison, AR; a nephew, Richard Wagner of Colorado Springs, CO; a niece, Vickie Wagner of Harrison; and two very special friends, Betty Frances Cowan-Moore of Blue Eye, MO and Edith M. Rowland of Harrison.
A private family graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Joplin Humane Society.
