Emma Louise Vicory, age 99, a lifelong resident of Joplin, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Emma was born February 6, 1916 to the late Fred E. Wade and Etta E. Martin Wade in Joplin. She graduated from Joplin High School and then got married shortly after.
Emma worked as a clerical worker for Empire District, Pacific-Mercury and later helped her husband with Vicory Insurance Company before retiring in 1978. She loved to travel with her husband and family. Emma was very active in the Sweet Adeline's and Freeman Auxiliary. Emma was a member of Mt. Hope Church of Christ.
On February 28, 1933, Emma married William S. Vicory in Oklahoma. After 68 years together, he preceded her in death on October 8, 2001.
Surviving Emma is one son, Phillip Wade Vicory, Sr. and wife, Madge of Joplin; grandchildren, Michael Vicory, Michelle Vicory, Melissa Vicory, Marissa Evans and husband, Jim; step grandchildren, Darrell Osborn and wife, Marry of Springfield, Steven Greenhaw and wife, Deana of Springfield, John Greenhaw of Springfield and Vanessa Zuraw and husband, Paul of Joplin; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and extended family and friends that will greatly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sons, Jan and Stephen Vicory; 2 grandchildren, Mitchell Vicory and Phillip Wade Vicory II; brothers, Chester and Morris Wade; sisters, Mary Sarriugarte and Nadine Weilbaker.
Service arrangements are Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. also at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Freeman Auxiliary in care of the mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
