Ann Margaret Butts, age 69, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 6:11 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, after a sudden illness.
Ann was born January 1, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Charles Bero and Marie Switlik Bero.
Ann worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator and in the business office for several years. She then worked at Empire District Electric Company as a customer service and credit manager, retiring in 2015 after 35 years of service.
She was a Missouri Master Naturalist and volunteered at the Wildcat Glades and Audubon Conservation Area. Ann was active with the Girl Scouts of America and served as a troop leader. With her love for the outdoors, Ann took up photography and belonged to the Southwest Missouri Camera Club of Springfield. She submitted photos to various publications, art galleries and conservation groups in the area. Ann loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Ann married Phillip Gene Butts on July 14, 1972 in Carthage. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Kirkbride and husband, Shawn Michael, Springfield; two grandchildren, Colton Daniel Lingle and Chloe Marie Lingle; siblings, John Bero, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jean Smith and husband, LeRoy, Carthage, Patty Klouse and husband, Doug, Carthage; and her fur baby, Lucy Lou.
Services are planned for Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Klouse, Shawn Kirkbride, Colton Lingle, Jeff Smith, Matthew Roper and Chris Roberts. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Master Naturalists or to the Southwest Missouri Photographers Club, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
