Richard Massa

Richard "Ink" Massa, 91, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Medicalodges of Pittsburg, Pittsburg, KS.

He was born October 11, 1927, at Mulberry, KS, the son of Victor and Mary (Pepina) Massa.

He attended Mulberry schools and graduated from Mulberry High School in 1946. In 1952 Richard enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1953.

On May 3, 1955, he was united in marriage to Norma Lafferty at Arcadia, KS. She survives of the home.

Mr. Massa worked for Dickey Clay for 23 years. He then worked for A&B Motor Company and Bowlus School Supply.

Membership was held in the Church of Christ of Lamar and the American Legion Post #64. Ink was known for his love of fishing and gardening.




In addition to his wife Norma, he is survived by two brothers, John Massa and his wife Rosemary of Girard, KS, and Bobbie Joe "Nook" Massa and his wife Lee Ruth of Mulberry, KS; two sisters, Norma Bezinque, Girard, KS and Dorothy Matthews of Girard, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Anton "Tony" Massa and Victor Massa and two sisters, Rita Leist and Lucille Behnke.

Service for Mr. Massa is set for 10:00 a.m., Friday (Jan. 25) at the Brenner Mortuary, with Jerry R. Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosebank Cemetery. Following the graveside, family and friends are invited to the Civic Center in Mulberry for a meal. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Church of Christ of Lamar. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
