Tammy Sue Winnett returned to the Lord Sunday, January 27, 2019.
Tammy was born in Joplin on June 28, 1958, to Ernest Delbert and Norma Sue (Houk) Winnett.
She attended Carl Junction Schools and graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1976. She matriculated at Southwest Baptist University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Music in 1981. She then pursued graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, earning her Master’s degree in Music in 1988 and Master’s in Early Childhood Education in 1994. In 2003 she earned her Master’s degree in Education from Southwest Baptist University.
She returned to Carl Junction in 1995 and taught in area schools for the next 23 years.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Joplin.
Tammy is survived by her sister, Sherry Vocelka, and husband, Ron; her brother, John Winnett; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Joplin with Rev. Jamie Tickel officiating. Burial will follow at Stone Cemetery in Diamond. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
