Sheridan Eddingfield

Sheridan K. Eddingfield, 75, of Wentworth, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Sheridan entered this life on June 8, 1943 in Long Lane, Missouri, to the union of the late Noble Clifford and Ruby Irene (Potter) Eddingfield. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving from 1961 and retiring in 1985.

On September 28, 1963 he was united in marriage to Helen Gripka at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pierce City, Missouri. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of New Site Baptist Church in Monett and a past member of the VFW also in Monett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and one great granddaughter, Aspen Ridenour.

Sheridan is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; children, William Eddingfield of Houston, Texas, Susan Mersing of Neosho, Missouri, Seanna Smith of Durham, North Carolina and Serenity Bristol of Webb City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-step-grandchildren; sister, Dorma Able, Monett, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.



A celebration of life with military honors will be 3:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Wentworth Community Center in Wentworth, Missouri. Military honors will be at 4:00 p.m. with visitation to follow. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri.
