Our Beloved Mother, Mai Lia Yang was born on June 15th, 1941 in the village of Khuav Mum, Laos. Her parents are Nhia Thong Yang and Yer Vang.
Mai Lia is the oldest of 7 children. She has one sister, Seng Lee and five brothers: Wa Kao, Chong Houa, Joua Va, Wa Bee, and Boua Thai.
In 1970, Mai Lia married Wa Chao Thao. They have 7 children: SingKeo - Madison, WI, PaHoua - Minneapolis, MN, BoonPha - Wentworth, MO, Thong - Monett, MO, PaDao - Monett, MO, KhamLa - Sun Prairie, WI, and PaNhia - Madison, WI. Altogether, they have 28 grand children and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mai Lia and Wa Chao along with their 7 children came to the United States in December of 1992. They resided in Madison, Wisconsin for 15 years and then relocate to Missouri in 2007 after their retirement.
Our Mother loved to garden, raise animals, and spending her free time with her grandchildren. She has a great personality with everyone whom she comes into contact with. She loved all her children unconditionally. She is remembered for her selfless heart; always giving whether her plate was either big or small.

Services will be held from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 10, 2020 and from 10:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Sunday, October 11, 2020. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
