(From Parker Mortuary)Johnny Mack Holmes, age 58, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at his home after a sudden illness.
Johnny was born December 18, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of the late Charles Mack Holmes and Peggy (Giles) Holmes. He grew up in Georgia and Alabama, and graduated from Morrow High School in Morrow, Georgia.
He moved to Joplin in 1991 and worked as a short order chef for Waffle House. He loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed fishing in the local creeks and ponds in this area.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Becky (Reeve) Holmes; brothers, Raymond Holmes (Daphne) of Eatonton, Georgia, Dean Holmes (Kristine) of Joplin, Richard Holmes of Burgaw, North Carolina, Telford Holmes (Pam) of Mobile, Alabama, Kenneth Holmes of Pelham, Alabama, Shelby Holmes (Vickie) of McDonough, Georgia; sisters, Mary Harvey (James) of Hampton, Georgia, Lottie Franta of Duenweg, Missouri, Katherine Holmes of Galena, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Sloan officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
