Zelma Barton

Mrs. Zelma Faye Barton, 90, of Tiff City, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday morning, April 11, 2021, in the comfort of her home, after a recent decline in health.

Zelma entered this life on March 11, 1931, in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, daughter of the late John Andrew and Clora (Tabb) Goodnight. She was raised and attended school in Powell, Missouri. 

On July 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Marvin Barton and to this union four daughters and two sons were born. 








Besides being a devoted homemaker, Zelma also assisted Marvin by doing the books for the saw shop. She enjoyed quilting, craft projects, word puzzles and gardening. She and Marvin were charter members of Buffalo Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-nine years, Marvin Barton on December 2, 2018; two children, Doris Evans and John Barton; and four brothers, Harry, Hicks, Thurman and Lavon.

Zelma is survived by her four children, Helen Humphrey and husband, Mo, of Tiff City, Shirley Stogsdill of Grove, Nancy Barton of Southwest City and Rick Barton and wife, Kathi, of Afton; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; a sister, Essie Ray Jenkins of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barton are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the Buffalo Creek Baptist Church in Tiff City with Pastors Jared Proctor and Justin Steadman officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery in Anderson. 

Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are, Wesley Barton, Charles Barton, Christopher Barton, Shane Evans, Kane Wyatt and Calvin Goodnight with Jerry Evans, Johnny Martin and Hicks Goodnight serving as honorary pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. Memorials are being directed to Buffalo Creek Baptist Church c/o the funeral home. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website, www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
