Leota Queen

Leota M. Queen, of Lockwood, MO, departed this life on Saturday, April 17, 2021, in the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility at the age of 85.

She was born on September 29, 1935 in Dade County, MO to Clarence and Otha (Sporman) Sorden. Leota was baptized at a young age, and was a long time member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. 

She was united in marriage to Albert C. Queen on November 6, 1950 in Golden City, MO. 








Leota worked as a Librarian for 26 years at the Lockwood Library. She enjoyed helping all the children of the community that would come to the library, and watching them prosper.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Clarence and Otha Sorden; her husband, Albert Queen; one son, Lennis Queen; one brother, Donald Sorden; and three sisters, Florence Tillery, Deloris Spain, and Loretta Cornish.

Survivors include her son, Mike Queen and his wife Lesa; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Queen; three grandchildren, Tara Carrier and husband Harry, Tana Foster and husband Mike, and Daniel Queen and wife Leah; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maple Grove Cemetery and mailed to 369 Rt. VV, Lockwood, MO 65682. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
