Robert was born on April 21, 1942 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Milan and Grace Detert. He was one of five children.
Robert joined the United States Army in 1966. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Prior to his service in the military, he met the love of his life Kathleen Keenan. They were married on June 28, 1969. Together they spent 51 wonderful years.
Robert was loved by so many people. He was a man of faith. He enjoyed attending church and worshiping on Sunday mornings. He had a love for horses and loved to ride. He enjoyed bowling and played in many leagues. He loved going for coffee in the morning and he never would pass up a chance to go out for breakfast.
Robert is survived by his wife Kathleen Detert of the home, daughters Lisa (Eric) Miller and Nicole Moore. Grandchildren Chris Gregory and Kayla Gregory of Joplin, bonus grandchildren Madeline, Julia, Alex, and Frankie, numerous great grandchildren, brothers John (Mary) Detert, Donny (Mary) Detert and sister Mary Schwartz, baby sister Gwen Broughton and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Grace Detert, brother Kenny Detert, in laws Francis and Betty Keenan and a son in law Greg Moore.
A family held memorial service has been scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Christ’s Church of Oronogo.
