Les Bond

Lesley Odell Bond, 89, Neosho, MO, entered into rest April 15, 2021 after a several month illness. Les was born October 30, 1931 to Theodore (Thid) and Mildred (Williams) Bond. He was the youngest of three sons. 

Les joined the US Navy in 1948 and served his country during the Korean War. 

Les and the former Wanda Cowan were married May 18, 1952, and she survives.






The couple moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where Les worked for the Federal Aviation Agency. They relocated to Colorado, where he graduated from the School of Mines in Boulder, with degrees in geology and engineering. He went to work for the Schlumberger Corp. until 1971. 

The couple moved back to Neosho and opened “Les’s Discount Store”. They operated three stores until 1977. Les was a very successful businessman and inventor of off-shore drilling equipment. He owned and operated Delta Directional Drilling and Bond Enterprises until his retirement. Les loved to fly his many planes and he loved to take others “up in the air." He loved spending time with his grandchildren and seldom missed any activity that involved them. Les was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

The couple have two children, Lance Bond of Neosho and Lisa Loring and husband, Mike, also of Neosho; two grandchildren, Dakota Gibbens and Tracy, and Hannah Stepp and Josh; seven great grandchildren, Bret, Wyat, Jayden, Kaylee, Adilyn, Jonathon, and William; two brothers, Clyde Bond and Bobby Lee Bond. Les was preceded in death by his parents and both brothers.

Viewing times will be Saturday, April 17 from 10 am until 1 pm and Sunday from noon until 5 pm. The family will have a time of visitation on Sunday, April 18 from 3pm until 4pm at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, April 19 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho with Mike Aldrich officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Neosho.
