(From Ozark Funeral Home)Darrel Donovan Thrasher, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Anderson, Missouri, on Wednesday morning, April 3, 2024, after months of failing health.
Born on November 12, 1938, in Gentry, Arkansas, to Lloyd Kenneth and Opal Ethel (Bryant) Thrasher, Darrel's life was a testament to the values of hard work, family, and faith.
Darrel was a lifelong resident of Anderson, Missouri, where he established deep roots and a legacy of kindness and skill.

He was a hardworking cattle and poultry farmer, known for his dedication to the land and the animals he tended. In addition to farming, he was a talented tractor mechanic, a trade that showcased his handy nature and problem-solving abilities. His work was not only a profession but a passion that he pursued with excellence and pride.
On September 21, 1962, Darrel married the love of his life, Nellie (Fout) Thrasher, and together they shared sixty-one years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect. Their union was blessed with daughters, and the family grew to include cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to Darrel's life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Kenneth and Opal Ethel (Bryant) Thrasher; a daughter, Marcia Robertson; and an infant brother, Gerald Lloyd Thrasher.
His memory will be lovingly carried on by his wife, Nellie; his daughter, Sandy Thrasher of Neosho, Missouri; granddaughters, Debbie Cantrell and husband, Zach, and Donna Burton, both of Neosho, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Donovan Parsons, Jeanette Parsons, and Donnie Burton; his sister, Joyce Harp of Anderson, Missouri; and a host of other family members and friends who were blessed to know him.

Darrel was a devoted member of Victory Road Church, where he found spiritual solace and a community of faith that mirrored his own beliefs. Music was another of Darrel's joys, and he could often be found singing and playing his guitar, a pastime that brought comfort and happiness not only to him but to all who listened.
Those who knew Darrel would describe him as kind and handy, a man who could fix almost anything and who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His presence was a source of stability and warmth, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri, with Pastors Arlis Thrasher and Roland Keith officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Ellsworth Thrasher, Kenny Harp and Marshall Ridgeway. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
