Harry Rogers

Harry O (Rog) Rogers II passed peacefully at home on Saturday, March 30, 2024, following a battle with cancer. 

He was born on January 4,1949 in Kansas City, MO. His parents were Parker and Helen Rogers of Carthage. Harry attended Carthage schools and graduated from CHS with the great class of 1967. He later graduated from MSSU with a business degree.

In 1969 he married his high school sweetheart Cindy Steele.






He joined the family businesses of MC Jacksons and Ben Franklin. Later he helped establish Harry S Truman Council of Governments and served as Director until his retirement in 2015.

Harry’s family included his wife Cindy, two sons, Sam (Allison), Chris (Tracy) both of Carthage. He has one brother Charlie (Chet) and one sister Ann Balfour (Doug). He was very proud of his four grandchildren: Aiden, Ben, Abby and Emme Rogers also of Carthage.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his son Sam.

Harry served one term as Mayor of Carthage from 1986-1990. He later served on the Planning and Zoning Board and the Kellogg Lake Committee. Harry was an Eagle Scout and served as a scout leader for several years. He helped to introduce the youth soccer program to Carthage. 

A lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church, Harry served on the Vestry and on various committees. Harry was an avid fly fisherman, spending hours tying flies of all descriptions to catch all the different fish. He spent lots of hours standing in many beautiful streams all over the country, fly fishing.








There will be a memorial service held for Harry at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation will be held directly after the service in the commons room of Grace Episcopal Church.

Instead of flowers, please contribute to memorial at Grace Episcopal Church or to MAKO Fly Fishing Club to be used for kids’ activities in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
