(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Cameron, age 41, who left us far too soon. Joseph will be forever remembered for his loyalty, unwavering kindness, brilliance, and unmistakable sense of humor.
Joey was born September 1st, 1983 in Neelyville, MO where he spent his early years before relocating to Joplin, MO – his home and the place where he built lifelong friendships.
He attended Joplin High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from MSSU in Mathematics, Physics, and Drafting in 2009.
Joseph explored various industries before joining Oasis Car Wash Systems in 2009 as an IT and Programming Technician. Over the years, he grew with the company, eventually becoming the Drafter and Control Panel Shop Manager, a role he held until his passing.
He had a curious mind and a passion for creativity, which he poured into programming, always finding new ways to make technology both fun and functional. When he wasn’t working on a project, he found peace and inspiration in nature, whether hitting the trail or quietly taking in the outdoors. An exceptional marksman, Joseph had a steady hand and a sharp focus that reflected his thoughtful, precise nature. His hobbies weren’t just pastimes, they were extensions of who he was: sharp, adventurous, and always engaged with the world around him.
Joseph was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and colleague. He is survived by his mother Sherri Bowman of Norman, OK; one sister, Kelsey Leigh (and husband Jeff Thomas); his nephew, Payton; his niece, Addie, all of Neosho, MO; as well as a wide circle of friends who considered him family.
He was the kind of person who showed up – for his family, his friends, and anyone in need. Thoughtful and genuine, he had a unique gift for making others feel truly seen and heard. Whether through heartfelt conversations, his quick wit, a warm smile, or simply his presence, Joseph left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
His legacy lives on in the countless memories shared by those who loved him. His laughter, wisdom, and heart will never be forgotten.
A remembrance gathering for Joseph will be held at The Living Room in Joplin (with the date to be announced). We will come together to share stories and surround one another with love in his honor.
Forever missed. Always remembered.
