(From Simpson Funeral Home)Mitchell "Mike" Brigman, of Carl Junction, Missouri born November 11, 1925, passed away peacefully with his family members by his side on April 9, 2025. Mike was born to Tillman and Louise Brigman in Marlboro County, South Carolina, he was the 11th born of 21 children. Mike is a member of the Waccamaw tribe. He married Pauline Friederich on January 31, 1953.
Mike was a man of many talents and interests. Mike was renowned for his creativity, an attribute that shone brightly in both his professional and personal life. He was a self-employed Neon Tube Bender, using his creative talents to shape and mold light into beautiful artwork. His imaginative mind also found expression in his expertise of glass blowing, a testament to his artistic touch.
Mike was a person who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a generous soul, always ready with a funny story to lighten the mood. His tales were as captivating as they were humorous, and he had a unique knack for making even ordinary events seem extraordinary. An avid outdoorsman, Mike spent countless hours fishing, bird hunting, training bird dogs and gardening. His love for nature was evident in how he cherished every moment spent in the great outdoors. He was also an active member of the community, serving as his son's scoutmaster for three years. He was an active member of the VFW serving as the Commander and the main fundraiser of the Golden City VFW Post. Mike served his country during WWII in the North Atlantic for the Navy, protecting supply ships as part of the Armed Guard. Mike was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946 as a Seaman First Class, receiving the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. During WWII, Mike protected deployed troops and supplies on seven Trans-Atlantic excursions on the SS Mormacmoon to the countries of Great Britain, France, Algeria and Belgium. He graduated from Dale Carnegie College Course in 1963. As an Arborist, he won numerous blue ribbons specializing in pecan tree growing. His family always joked that he was the #1 nut in Missouri. (He created the Waccamaw Pecan).
His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His generous spirit and warm laughter will forever be missed but never forgotten.
Miike is survived by his son Bert (Patricia) Brigman; grandchildren, Adrienne (Rusty) Jackson; Keith (Rebecca) Brigman and Colleen (Patrick) Bromley; great grandkids, Spencer, Valerie, Carter, Hunter, Mason, Barrett, Harper, Delaney, Tatum, Reagan and Myla Jo. He is preceded in passing by his wife Pauline, his parents Tillman and Louise Brigman; siblings, Annie Mae Watson, Curtis Brigman, Paul Brigman, Eli Brigman and Lula Bell Maness.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life, Saturday April 19, 2025, 10 am at Carl Junction Christian Church. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Simpson Funeral Home.
