(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Floyd F. Wiss, age 90, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Floyd was born on February 8, 1935, in High Hill, Missouri.
He had resided in Joplin since 1960, moving from Warrenton, Missouri.
He and his wife, Jane, owned and operated the former Thunderbird Hotel, 21st and Range Line in Joplin, Missouri for 23 years and in 1981, he started ATBT, Inc, a trucking and excavating business until 2020-2021.
He thoroughly enjoyed the trucking business, playing golf and going to the lake with his family.
He married Jane Smith on June 21, 1957, in Warrenton, Missouri and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters; Jane Ann Ballard of Shell Knob, Missouri and Maria Smith Wiss of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Jack and Virginia Whitman Wiss, one brother, and eight sisters.
There are no services planned.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin, Missouri.
