Pat Doubet

(From Knell Mortuary)

Patricia Ann Doubet, 80, of Carthage, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Joplin. She was born February 3, 1945, in Lamar, Missouri, to Robert and Mary (Bray) Ashby.

A 1963 graduate of Carthage High School, Pat attended a year at Drury University’s Burge School of Nursing before marrying the love of her life, Richard Doubet, on December 12, 1964. Pat and Rich had two sons, Brian and Dennis, during their years in Virginia and Colorado while Rich was in the military. In Colorado, Pat took on the challenging job of rural school bus driver (with Rich often serving as mechanic).

The Doubets returned to Carthage in 1978, where Pat worked 17 years in the Jasper County Assessor’s Office. But her heart was for service: Carthage Humane Society, McCune Brooks Hospital, Relay for Life, Columbian Elementary, veterans’ support groups, and her church, First United Methodist, were all blessed by her volunteer work.

A breast cancer survivor of 30+ years, Pat loved animals, her Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters, and most of all, her family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard; sons Brian (Melissa) of Carthage, and Dennis (Amanda) of Joplin; grandchildren Hannah (Michael) Blackwell, Zeppelin (Caitlin) Doubet, Alec (Brittanie) Doubet, and Jace (Hailey) Duncan; as well as five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Carthage, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. The family will proceed to the graveside after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Carthage Humane Society in Pat Doubet’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
