(From Derfelt Funeral Home) Linda Kay Evans, age 70 of Columbus, died at 5:05 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the home after an almost four year battle with cancer.
Born September 29, 1954 in Columbus, Linda was the daughter of Marvin and Opal (Harwood) Correll.
Linda graduated from Columbus Unified High School with the Class of 1972 and attended Labette Community College in Parsons, KS.
She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Columbus, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past assistant manager of the Cherokee County Ambulance Co., past president of the Columbus Saddle Club, and past secretary/treasurer of the Greenlawn Cemetery Board.
Leo and Linda (Correll) Evans were united in marriage on August 28, 1998 in Columbus. He survives of the home.
Linda worked at several jobs in Columbus including USD #493, Interlocal #637 as a paraprofessional, Commerce Bank, several county offices, and Calibrated Forms for 20 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her entire family, loving and spoiling all the kids, as well as sewing, quilting, crafting, cooking, and yard work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Eric David Tinney; an infant great-grandchild; a great-niece, Kaitlyn Holt; maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Leo; a daughter, Kristi Davis of Riverton; two granddaughters, Jaylyn Stice (husband, Tyler) of Wichita, and Kodi Jo Davis of Riverton; one great-grandson, Crew Stice; one great-granddaughter, Oaklyn Stice of Wichita.
Additional survivors include siblings Marta (husband, Bob) Shanks of Columbus, Jim Bob (wife, Tomi) Correll of Leavenworth, KS, Carla (husband, Bob) of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Patsy (husband, John) Mitchell of Joplin, MO, and several nieces and nephews, Bobbi Ann and Marty Shanks, Danielle, Jarrod, Carson, and Mack Berkel, Jessica, Troy and daughter (coming) Augustine, Madison Correll, Daniel, Amanda, Kolton, Oliver, MaKinna Hess, Joie (husband, Wayne) Cheeseman and family, and Angie Gullory and family.
She is also survived by a very special bonus family, Dan, Jana, Patrick and William Hickman.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 PM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus.
Graveside Services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery of Columbus at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Memorials may be made to Columbus Community Benefit (cash donations only), The Foster Closet which is to help children in need, or the First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
