Tom Visser

(From Knell Mortuary)

Thomas Wayne Visser, known as Tom to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Carthage, Missouri, at the age of 73. Born on June 17, 1952, in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of the late Richard and Bernice (Olsen) Visser. Tom was a man whose kindness and handy skills left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Tom grew up in a bustling household, surrounded by siblings who shared in the joys and challenges of life. He is survived by his brother, Jim Visser (Claira) of Elgin, Illinois, and his sister, Karen Ritzema (Ed) of Cedar Lake, Indiana. Tom was a cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his gentle spirit and the wisdom he imparted. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Richard and David Visser, and his sister, Judith Wieringa, whose memories remain a treasured part of the family's legacy.

For many years, Tom dedicated his professional life to the art of camera repair, working for Kodak. His meticulous attention to detail and profound understanding of the mechanics of cameras earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues and customers alike.

Tom's interests extended beyond his professional expertise. He was an avid enthusiast of building and flying model airplanes with his father, a hobby that allowed him to combine his technical skills with his love for flight. His eyes would light up with joy as he watched his creations take to the skies, a reflection of the freedom and adventure he cherished.

Those who knew Tom would describe him as the epitome of kindness. He had a heart that radiated warmth and a demeanor that put others at ease. His hands, always ready to fix what was broken, were a testament to his handy nature. Tom's legacy is not only in the objects he repaired or the models he built but in the lives he touched and the love he shared.

Per Tom’s wishes there was cremation and a private family service will be held at a later date.
