Roger Dummit

Roger Ray Dummit, age 74, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born on May 14, 1952, in Aurora, Missouri, to Harold and Juanita (Ray) Dummit.

He graduated from Aurora High School in 1970 and was a true Houn Dawg through and through.

On August 2, 1975, Roger married Holly (Blevins) Dummit. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, love, laughter, and countless memories.

Roger never met a stranger. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and was always ready to share a story, especially about the people, places, and history of the area he loved. He was an avid gardener and generously shared his knowledge and passion for gardening with anyone who asked. Roger found great joy in helping others and passing along what he knew.

Above all, Roger cherished his family. He is survived by his two children, Ramona (Jason) Bradley of Aurora, Missouri, and Jared (Monica) Dummit of Aurora, Missouri. His greatest pride and joy were his five grandchildren: Jocie Dummit of Aurora, Missouri; Mckenna Bradley of Columbia, Missouri; Darian Dummit of Bentonville, Arkansas; Cooper Bradley of Aurora, Missouri; and Rylan Dummit of Aurora, Missouri. Roger's face would light up whenever his grandchildren walked into a room, and he never missed an opportunity to tell others how proud he was of them.

He is also survived by his siblings, Susan (Gary) Westra of Pierce City, Missouri; Eric (Lisa) Dummit of Marionville, Missouri; and David (Karen) Dummit of Republic, Missouri, along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Roger was a member of Reavisville First Baptist Church, where he was part of a community of faith and fellowship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Juanita Dummit, and his nephew, Neal Westra.

Roger leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, family stories, and a lifetime of memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His generous spirit, welcoming smile, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Reavisville Baptist Church with Mark Reavis officiating under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to one of the following scholarships. Roger was a strong advocate for higher education and deeply cared about supporting the children of our community.
