Diane Bowling

(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)

Diane Michele Bowling, age 61, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at her home. She was born February 18, 1965, in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of Donald “Bob” and Katy (Teague) Bowling.

Diane’s proudest title was Grammy. Her two grandbabies, Rayme and Ozzy were the light of her life. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting her, chances are, she would be talking about them. She made sure they were always overly fed, in a fresh pair of pajamas, drinking chocolate milk and most importantly happy and laughing. Majority of pictures taken of her in the last five years involved her rocking a sleeping child or smiling while they climbed up on her shoulders. The memories those three made will live on in their hearts forever. They love her with all of their hearts, bigger than the sky, moon, and ocean. Everyone should be as lucky to have a Grammy like her.

Diane was the epitome of what a mother should look like. She was selfless, nurturing, encouraging, and so full of love. She always had the best advice to give when the world felt a little too heavy. She never missed a moment. As far back as I can remember, Mom was always there clapping and cheering me on. I will miss our laughs, long talks, and adventures together. I have had the luxury of knowing there was no burden I ever had to carry alone. Now I have the peace in knowing I have the best guardian angel to watch over me. She was my sunshine, my only sunshine.

She was such a bright shining example of what a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend should be. Her family was her pride and joy. She kept everyone laughing, usually at her own expense. A woman of dignity, strong will, humility, and full of sass. Many men (including her son-in-law) would agree she was to be feared, despite being 4’11”.

It’s impossible to have enough pages to share all of the beauty that Diane (our Diney) bestowed on this world. But something everyone close to her knew was that she had a passion for music. A passion that ran deep. Some of her music tastes might even surprise folks, but it’s simply because she lived vibrantly and passionately. A quality which she has passed down to the young ones in her life through her daughter, niece, nephews, and grandchildren. That passion is a gift that will continue to be passed down for generations to come. We are all eternally grateful for that, and grateful for her in all of the never-ending love she gave. -Justin

I have known Diane for almost 40 years. There were times when I was supposed to go out with Steve, but I would meet up with her instead and hang out all night long. Mind you, that was after waiting for HOURS for her to get ready. I would watch her fix her hair that was so massive I didn’t think she would be able to get in the truck. I didn’t have a best friend back then, but she became my best friend, matron of honor in our wedding, and so much more. We worked three jobs together as co-workers. She became a sister that I never had and only wished we could’ve stayed close together. We had kids, our lives changed, we got busy and it became a ‘hi and bye Sista love you’ text relationship. Diane was not only beautiful on the outside, but inside too. She absolutely had a heart of gold. She had a comedic side to her that would bring a smile or get you laughing. She was the proudest when she became a mom and Grammy. Life will never be the same, and she will be so missed, but never forgotten. She will continue to live in our hearts for as long as we live. I love you ‘Sista’ with my whole heart. -Kelly

My little sister, I remember the stubbornness of ‘gotcha last’ at all costs, and you always won our wrestling matches on the floor when we were kids. You always won. I always thought I was your protector when it was just the opposite, you were mine. You never cared about material things in life. All you ever wanted was a baby and God made sure you got that. He knew what a perfect Momma you would be, and boy, do we agree? I remember your heart being so full when your little Maddie came along; and a few years later, that bright light got even brighter when your two little grandbabies came into the picture. Now your life is complete. I don’t remember a single time in my life that you put yourself before the people you loved. You taught me more than you could ever know. If the world had your heart, it would surely feel like heaven on earth. I wonder how we can continue on without making that call to you. Looking for comfort that only you could give us. Then I think about you in heaven with that pain-free body which you deserve, still watching over us every day. My dear Diney, God must have needed you first so you could show us what true love is when we meet again. -Randy
